If ever in Little Rock, any skater would be a fool if they did not include a trip to Kanis in their plans. The Kanis Skatepark is known worldwide as one of the oldest built-to-skate bowls in America. Built in 1986, Kanis has been a staple of arkansas skateboarding and culture, as well as, the place where most arkansas skaters first met one another.

For years, the bowl went through many changes. Through numerous paint jobs, random repairs and even acting as a monsterous rain catch, It remains very skateable to this day. But in 2006, A group of Little Rock area skaters got together and stepped to the City of Little Rock, asking for permission to start pouring concrete themselves on a large concrete slab near the bowl. The city accepted. From that point on, The Kanis Project people have raised money through yearly events, such as the Kanis Bash, as well as personal contributions from skaters and non-skaters alike.

Today, the slab has turned into a small skatepark of its own, with many different and unique ramps only found at DIY park. Spines, Vertwall, Jersey barrier walls, speed bumps, tombstone, bank wall...everything you would need to do some arkansas shreddin'.
